Default Silver lining and all that

Yeah the weather is beating us up, but there's a good side to that as well. We're not out hammering the little coho, chipping away at the quota with 6lb fish. Every day they swim they are putting on weight so that when we finally get out we will have a better grade of fish to target, and the season will last a little longer - hopefully into the flat-water days.

It's all good - in its own way.

Great point! Never understood catching the 4-6lb fish that will be 8-10 lbs in a few weeks.

Plus for my own selfish reasons I need the quota to last until the week of July 10-16 for the annual family "men only" trip to Winchester Bay to do some salmon fishing.

Now that's positive attitude. Ya the Coho grow 1/2# or so each week, & Yes Ron, The Halibut will grow bigger also, I personally fed them lot's of Shad this year...so that's got to help. There are plenty more positive's also...like all the "Honey do's" I've got done lately, & all the money we saved + saving the boat for the most exciting fishing yet...TUNA!...all positive, but I'm ready for another salt fix too.

I just wish they would open the Coho season July 3rd every year. Also, to allow anglers to purchase a permit for using two rods still keeping the 2 fish limits as always.

Jim-
You obviously have "other" stuff to do. I do as well and that's why I haven't worried about the crappy weather.

After all, ALL other trips are nothing but shake down cruises to prepare for the real thing...

Just how much range does that one horepower model have?

I think we could get a rod holder mounted on that saddle horn

If he hasn't yet, I'll bet sometime he goes horsepacking into the mtns and goes fly fishing. Course tha'd have to be another board!!!! Posting it here would just be rubbing salt (so to speak!) in the sores we have from not being able to get out on the salt!

Nothing like a hay burner to give you "other" suff to do. Whether you want it or not.

I'm with ya' Skein

I was worried that the season would be over before it started, but it looks like my 1st week of July Vacation I will have lots of opportunity for some Coho action.....

Hey Jim, next time tell them to let you know when they are going to take the picture so you can let go of the saddle horn (just tryin' to help there, buckaroo).

My Dad is in his mid-eighties now and he has been saying for years that they should not open coho until the 4th of July when they have time to get a little size to them, I would much rather keep 12-15lb August fish than 6-7lb June fish.

Speaking of "range," I recognize that background. Mighty positive thoughts, too ..."where never is heard, a discouraging word..."
