Default Garibaldi 6/22 who's in?

If the wind cooperates...anyone planning on running on Thursday?

We're thinking about a tuna hunt if the conditions warrant such an adventure.

I am thinking about going for halibut on Thursday out of Newport, but the forecast looks plenty sporty right now.

Might be over on Wednesday Bud. If all goes well we might join you Thursday on the big boat. No word or anything else from Mr. Powell yet.

Bud,
When are you there on Wednesday? I have an invite to the deep spot off Garibaldi for Thursday. If it looks at all feasible maybe I'll spend the night and fish on Thursday with my homeys.

Call me man.

John

Looks like we're moving the adventure to Friday with the lastest forecast...to be continued

Tuna Time was at the jetty tips early this morning and it was flat.

Yeah! There is usually a morning "window of oportunity" during this type of weather pattern...So Salmon/Bottomfish, or even closer to shore Halibut is possible, But Tuna? espically not knowing where they are, might be a stretch. GOOD LUCK!

But how will we find them if we don't go look?

Can't be worse than the crap we were in this winter in Cabo...6 & 8 stacked up...we took a pounding but we caught fish...successful but stupid!

Yep! Your right Bud, I remember Roy(Bait of Egg,s) Ken (Crazyfish) went out in a near Gale last year from Depoe Bay, We made it 10kts before turning back & setteling for Bottomfish(cause it wasn't bad inside), Ken got 1 Tuna, & I think Roy was top boat with 3 Tuna(Congrats Roy) I had to shake his hand when They got back...cause they stayed out most of the day, covered close to 100 mile's(if my memory is correct) & the Crew looked "Beat-up" WOW! I was Impressed, I think I called his boat a "Battleship", & his Crew "Warriors". Ken had a 300# guy on board with him that day, I heard he was bouncing off everything...ouch that has got to hurt, I think they called it quit's by noon(nice try Ken).

The CR buoy is giving me reason to believe...10 am and blowing less than 10kts...swell dropped under 4' and wind waves are around 2'...if this trends this way today...tomorrow might just happen.

Sound's good!, I have the next 5 day's off, & am talking with Bajadan about putting a trip together, as most of my fishing buddies are working thru the week. What about you Bud, got an extra seat available?
Boy! I wish they would put back the current wind data on the Bouy report's at The Rockpile & Cape Blanco, It really limit's our ability to spot trend's. Also the Jet stream wind speed is another important factor that is not readily available to us these day's, If the Jet stream wind speed is at 150kts or more at 30kft, it really can affect us down at Sea level.

This isn't as helpful as the current wind at the buoys but you can get the wind at the Newport Airport here and the Astoria Airport here. You can definitely see the trend of wind picking up around 10:00AM - NOON everyday.

I don't know about TUNA! yet, but i'll be down in Lincoln City Saturday - Wednesday with the family. I'm looking to get out at least twice, maybe more. If nothing else, close in salmon and bottomfish as retaliate suggested.

I keep looking at the CR buoy and it has dropped since this morning both in wind and swell height.

The duration has not improved.

I am going over to the boat this afternoon and we'll just have to see how things play out today.

Life would be so much easier without tuna on the brain!

Just talked to Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay. Conditions are 1 and 3 with light variable wind. Bar is unrestricted, hope Bud got out and brings us the good report. I'm going to take a look tomorrow A.M. for hali's and salmon. Predicted 2 and 5. Get back in before the afternoon wind show.

No tuna either day...not even close...water is warm enough, still green but clean. Did get the gear in water for a few.

52-53* in close

Wind was not an issue in close until 1 pm

Salvaged today with some lings and rockfish.

Ken it was not too rough but we could only make 14-15kts and that is not fast enough for the long run we were looking at. Like you said...someone had to try.

We did use the new Tuna Bites by Mark Mc to catch all of our rockfish and lings...worked like a champ!
