Overused word
Have a friend, relative, loved one, or co-worker who uses a word too often? Drives ya crazy?
Or is there a word that people in general seem to overuse today?
My word is "AMAZING".
I find this word is used too much to describe many things...most of which aren't "AMAZING".
Your word follows..............
John

Re: Overused word
I agree fishlipper. The worst thing is that people will use a word because they hear someone else say it without having any idea what it really means.
The actual definition of awe according to Websters: "an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear , or wonder produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful, etc."
Common use: Man, that was an awesome pizza.
Only in America!

"No problem" instead of "You're welcome"!
This one just drives me battey. Of course it's NO PROBLEM, it's just proper manners and a little respect!!
Unfortunately, I have heard it so much, that I sometimes catch myself saying it, or find it about to roll off my lips. E-gads!

Just because you don't get an overwhelming feeling of admiration and wonder from a good pizza, that doesn't mean I don't.

Now, there's a good one for mispronunciations! The nearly 11 years that I was one, it drove me crazy that (probably) 80% of Realtors thought they were Re-la-tors. Don

Re: Overused word
I bought a ream of printer paper at a "Bullseye" store last night. As it turned out, I had a bunch of one dollar bills and change, so I paid the exact amount.
My young checker announced, "Awesome!"
Awesome? I just had to stare at him for a moment. His life must be in serious need of something! Oh, well, I suppose I should be glad that he didn't need to make change.
I have to disagree slightly on the overheard teenager's phone dialogue, though. My 17-year-old daughter's conversations -- at least the end which I hear -- seem to consist of "That sucks," repeated every 20 seconds.
