Default Deck help

Hi everyone, I am not sure if this is where a topic like this is supposed to go, but here it is. My family has an old rotten back deck that we are trying to get rid of. Do we need a permit to remove the deck, or does a contractor have to do it? Also, I was wondering if any Ifishers were carpenters and could possibly give us a deal.
Thanks,

Doc Dowdy

Default Re: Deck help

Doc,

When you hire a deck builder there is usually a opportunity to pay them so much a SQ ft to take out the old one and haul it away. This is done at the original deck building estimate.

The contractor will come and estimate the whole job.

Tear out and haul away
Frame and deliver the material and you do the rest.
Frame, lay the deck boards and hand rail

Most will give you a bid for each item and you get to decide what you want to pay them to do and what you want to do yourself.
