Very interesting colors. Care to share your inspiration? Why did you want those colors?
I have always liked scrambled egg for iron, and that is similar to your upper right colors. Was that what you were going for? You even got some black pepper in it just like I like!

Re: Some New Tunabites.....From R & D Dept
Kurt, thanks for asking. There are several "inspirations" here.
1) For several years I have noticed that, in certain conditions, the lime green heads on the Zuker is the key to getting bit. It's when you have clouds / overcast, but there is still a LOT of light coming through. The kind of weather where it is cloudy but you still get sunburned. So I have been trying to produce a green tone that will stand out the same way that the Zuker lime head does. And as a second color, I add the yellow/gold for some contrast.
2) I've also been working on a better dark pattern. Not just "purple & black" but....adding highlights to both shades. So the purple/blue will look dark as a profile, but also give off some flash. If you look closely at the back of any fresh bait (anchovy, herring, sardine) you will see that it's not just dark...it has color to it, sort of mother-of-pearl in dark shades.
Oh, I almost forgot. The idea for combining the purple/blue with the yellow/gold came from the northern jig boat clone. And after making this, it occured to me that it looks like the Cal / Berkeley colors (blue & gold).
At one time I thought it would be fun to make a bunch of combos based on the college colors of the PAC 10, and see which ones actually work best. Any bets  ?
Hope that helps....let me know if you have any ideas you'd like me to try; I'd be happy to do it.

Got any tuna we could try these on? You know, just for a test.

Lookin good Mark!
I always liked the 'channel island chovie' colors- black/purple back with silvery belly. I like the jigboat colors (or PAC 10).

Re: Some New Tunabites.....From R & D Dept
Mark-
Very nice. Are you selling jig heads too?
One of my favorites, although for shallow water lings and CA halibut, not tuners, was a color a friend of mine who used to pour called "crustacean sensation." Three colors, motor oil with gold fleck, red stripe, brown back. Deadly for working the jetties and boilers.
Good stuff. There isn't a fish that swims that won't eat a swimbait. We eve caught salmon on them pinned in an RSK.

You got that right Kurt! I think there should be a law that...you must keep a rod with a swimbait tied on...ready to go....at all times when on the water.
I think it was 4 years ago, we hammered the halibut at the rockpile on swimbaits...the 'buts were way up in the water column...like 60 - 80 ft down.
Sending you a pm Kurt.....

How do you attach a live bait to that set up?

Re: Some New Tunabites.....From R & D Dept
Jennie has it right, naming new collors is half the fun-
The black and purple could be "midnight magic"
The upper left "Lemonade, that cool refreshing drink"
The lower left, "Key Lime Urinal cake"
the upper right, "electric blue lightning"
The lower right, "seedless watermellon"

Very nice Mark!
Where are you located in Corvallis? I stay at the Hilton Garden Inn quite a bit - I would like to swing by and pick some up - or we could meet for a beer
