That sounds like a nitemare dummy; hookin springers on steelhead gear . I don't know where you're planning to egg fish for springers, but there are some common things they like. Use the search feature for this BB and locate lots of info on egg cures. Ah, ... for now let's make this easy. Use the Pro-Glo red egg cure sprinkled about a tablespoon per pound on your fresh uncured salmon eggs this fall (NW Wash. Kings like that OTC cure real well; NW Oregon fish like mine better just kidding with ya). Then lightly sprinkle on some MSG and mix them around in a large bowl or container. Let them juice up real well in room temperature for a couple hours, then rotate them every 8 hours or so in the fridge in a covered container for a couple days while they re-absorb their juice. From this point I usually wet pack and freeze more than half of mine in glass canning jars. A lot of good fishermen, including in your area, prefer to air dry the eggs for a few hours and then roll them in borax before vacuum sealing them in jars for freezing; and this is a tried and true cure and method that will catch you springers and fall Kings too. I do some of my eggs this way. Good luck dummy.

Dummy...I'm a pretty simple person and have an egg cure that works well. I spread the skeins out on paper towels (not newspaper, they'll suck up the ink!) and let them drain. Sprinkle with non-iodized (pickling) salt like you would your eggs at breakfast. This makes them tough so they don't cover your buddy across the river when you cast. Should be cool, garage works pretty good in current weather. Otherwise, toss the meatloaf leftover in the fridge and use that space. I avoid the custom concoctions and go to the grocery store and buy 99.9% pure borax. Mix the borax about 30% brown sugar to 70% borax. Cover the eggs thoroughly with the mixture both sides and let sit in a cool place for about 12 hours or until they start to get "tacky". Cut'em up into bait size pieces with scissors or a knife and roll in the borax/brown sugar mixture. Then place into whatever container you use, topping off with the borax mixture. These will freeze well and last for longer than most. I've used them that are 2-3 years old and they work fine. This recipe was given to me by some old "local" on the Rogue River about 20 years ago, haven't found anything better. Good luck.

Trout myster,
Does your eggs come out looking natural or have a light brown tint?
