Default Tiger Muskie

I thought I would share a pic of a Tiger Muskie from this morning. This was 1 of 3 I caught this morning from my float tube and it was 41" long. The other two were 22" and 37". You don't want these guys to get to wild around your tube if you know what I mean. I caught this one on a J-13 in the perch pattern. The other 2 were caught on a 3" brown curly tailed grub while fishing for Smallmouths. Total count for 2.5 hours of fishing was 3 muskie and 2 smallies. O by the way, these fish came out of Pineview resivor in Utah.

Here is a link to the new Utah record Muskie that was caught a couple of weeks ago State Record

ODFW needs to stock these in a few lakes. They dont reproduce, and eat the heck out of chubs.

It would probably cut down on the amount of swimmers and jet skiers as well. I'm not sure I would want to wiggle my toes in the water if I knew one of those was down there.

Here is a pic of my biggest tiger to date. This fellow came from Otisco Lake, NY. They are great fun to fish for. They are mean. They give a preaty good fight. This one loved to tail walk. i love chucking big pieces of metal at them. They can be a good management tool also. I sure do miss fishing for Esox species. My buddies are having a good year at home so far.

this is a pickup of an article i remember reading when living back in wisconsin. true story. muskies are mean, opportunistic and very cool!!

"According to an article appearing in the Wisconsin State Journal (Madison) on July 1, 1998, muskies may be developing a taste for unusual bait.

Dan Droessler, a Platteville, Wisconsin, police officer was vacationing at Governor Dodge State Park near Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He had been dangling his foot in the water over the side of a canoe at Twin Valley Lake when a 36-inch tiger muskie clamped onto his foot. The surprised Droessler, who wasn’t even fishing (and usually does not fish), pulled his foot out of the water, and the muskie dropped into the canoe.

Droessler required 60 stitches in a local hospital emergency room.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources then confiscated the fish. Warden Randy Rossing said, "We had to take it. It’s not a legal size for one thing, and it’s not a legal way to catch a fish—with your foot."

Droessler did eventually get to keep the fish."

That is a hilarious quote. They confiscate the fish because it's not a legal way to fish. HaHaHa  I wonder if the warden said that with a straight face?

This should give you an idea of how "mean" they are. Watch the video at this link...you must hit the "play" button.
