catarafts
I am going to purchas a catarft as soon as I can sell my 14ft Valco I just posted. Can I get a decant one for $1200-$1300.When I drift in a friends drift boat it is usually on the north and south forks of the Nehalem, so thats what the cataraft will be for. I know there are many brands and prices, but I just have one price range, and will not be in large rivers for now. Thanx Guys: Jerry

Re: catarafts
I think I know just the feller you need to holler at. He has one, and can probably give you the "skin_matics". He is the Bald Eagle...err..meant Dingbat....dang it..no it's Osprey, but you can call him Cheery O's.

Re: catarafts
Well first off you can do a search of previous topics on cats that will help you. But what really is needed first off is how big of cat you want and how many people you want to be able to take with you. Do you want one that's whitewater rated or one just to float lowkey water only? I have two cats, a 9 ft Steelheader for my one man floats and my 16ft Aire I use for multi man floats. You can pick up a good used boat for around $1200-$2000 depending on your needs and wants. If you don't need quality and just a vessel you can go down to a lower quality boat such as your Outcasts, Bucks, JW Outfitters, etc. If you want brand new you're kinda S O L. Most tubes will run you around $1500-$2500 a pair, and that's just tubes and no frame/oars/accessories. I lucked into my Aire, bought the whole package used from a customer years ago for $1800, and that was frames, tubes, straps, inflators (pump and electric),throw ropes, and misc dry bags. I'd love to move up to a Wing someday, but I'll live with what I have. It's a good whitewater boat so I can't complain and it's held up to all the abuse I've put it through. If you have any questions let me know, and definitely talk to Osprey also. He'll help you out alot...

Hey, Bill and I are thinking of buying a Don Hill Cat, but would love to talk with Osprey about this too.

Re: catarafts
Jennie my dear you can call me anything you want (jk) Bill
As far as cats go I haven't seen Rt's but before you buy looka round they are not all the same ,you start with tubes Spend the bucks ,the only thing between you and a cold swim is you're tube quality,
frames make it all happen you can set these up as you want and what you're needs call for,of course I'll give you the ifish discount on a custom frame...Happy shopping...Os

Re: catarafts
I think it's Chumly O's Jen!!! Just make sure that the model that he specifies doesn't have the "fall off the back ejection seat". He keeps promising me a ride, but won't say if it's in the cooler that's strapped on, the ejection seat previously mentioned or are we going to play "I'm gonna guess your weight" or are you saving that seat for your favorite hillbilly Ya'll. Just remember the duct tape and you'll be OK!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Re: catarafts
Dang head you pretty much covered all the bases here, but alas only the Red Necks get the ejector seat,
I have to be nice to you falling off a cat isn't nearly as bad as leaving a Jet Sled at 40 mph
