Default Waders-Breathable or Neoprene?

My neoprene waders have just about had it. Waders weren't meant to be glued this many times. I'm in the market for some new ones and have been looking seriously at the breathable waders. I do a lot of bank fishing which means trekking up and down hills and climbing over and through every kind of terrain. I imagine the breathables would be more confortable but are they worth the price? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Mark

I've used both. In my opinion neoprene are best for boat fishing. They are warm (5mm) and if you go in you will float like a cork. If you walk a lot the breathables are for you. You can provide your own undergarment for warmth according to the conditions. My .02

I have used neo and I like them for those cold winter morning fishing for steelies I walk alot in my neo's but i dont wear alot of cloths with them. If you do alot of trackin around from hole to hole have you ever thought about how many hole you put in you neo's. I like neo's becasue they cost about 1/4 of breathable's and if I put a hole in them I can patch them up. Now I dont think I would ever want to take out a pair of breathable's because I would be to afraid of putting a hole in them well if you got the Cash then go for it jsut me $.31

I just bought a pair of Reddington breathables this year and love them...will never go back to noeprine again its like wadding in pajamas. I fish year around for steelhead and salmon, in and out of a boat...Jeff
p.s. Lot more durable than neoprine and yea my reddingtons came with a patch kit...so you can glue them.

As far as boots go there is just one in my opinon..DANNER.. Finally had to get a new pair this year but my old ones held up for four years, of hard fishing...MY work slows way down in the fall and winter so I fish at least three times a week...I swear those Danners are almost bullet proof

Mark-until you make up your mind heres a few redneck ideas for you

1)2 glad glad bags and some duct tape
2)Try and vacuum sealing your legs or;
3)Buy 12cans of water repellant and spray yourself from the waist down then you don't have to worry about it

you already know my input-good luck

About the boots: Unlike neoprene waders, I would recommend not going cheap. I have had some of the Hodgeman type boots, and they are absolute crap. Two years ago I bought Simm's guide boots with the studs in the felt. I fish quite often, and these boots have held up just great. You might want to look into better laces though; I have replaced mine 3 times.

I feel that the cleats (spikes) are invaluable when wading in sketchy areas, and also in the hike into a fishing area. Lots of times there are slippery mud slopes that you have to traverse, and the spikes give you much better traction than just plain felt.

If you have a drift boat, you will want to lay down some sort of rubber mat. I haven't done this to my new boat yet, but definately will before the winter steelie season. Last spring we used an old driftboat and absolutely tore the sh*t out of the floor boards with our cleats.
