Default 7th Halibut Saturday

All the Saturday halibut fishers this weekend should remember that this is Oregon's Free Fishing Weekend, June 10 and 11. Because of this, there is no need to tag any fish, including halibut. So, you can get a 7th halibut for the season, if you get it on Saturday.

I called ODFW last week to confirm no tagging was needed.

Last year you had to tag salmon and halibut on free fishing weekend but page 4 of the general regulations clearly states that you do not.

Every year this comes up. But NO, you do not need to tag your fish on free fishing days. You must abide by all other regulations for gear, size, number, etc.
