Default Home sweet home

The trip is over, alas. We had a blast in the conch republic. Although the fish caught were not the right ones they were all treated with respect and released. I really wanted Mahi Mahi and Sails but settled for Tarpon, yellowtail snapper and Jack Cravelle. There was no access for my dial up connection so I was deaf and mute for a week. I have almost recovered from my web withdrawal.

Diving was good, including a 2 hour goodbye dive at Sombrero key at 25 ft on friday. My dad has a brownie air compressor on a raft and we swam around until it ran out of gas. I caught a few lobster and introduced my daughter to the wonders of snorkeling and boating in six ft. of water.

I see the sturgeon dudes have been busy and the gator rodeo is on. The election of course was a big dissapointment and I've done my best to ignore it.

The bend is your friend!

Welcome back Pilar. Man, no mahi mahi? Bummer, that's my favorite saltwater fish to grill. Snapper is pretty dang tasty too. So have you figured out how to remove that cocunut smell from your clothes and gear yet? Tell me you don't have one of those ridiculous "David Duval" tans on your face from the fishing. I head that way on the 20th to the 28th, and may make it to the gulf. I have 2 lots down there on the bay that were just purchased 6 months ago so I have to go see them and of course....fish them

Hey_Yall. Some things never change. Key West is the same old place. The coconut oil smell is ok.

Mixed with the perfume smell of my new traveling companion it's just about ideal. Wouldn't want to remove it, too many good memories to be evoked by that elusive combination.

Can't tan me buddy, that dang fair skin is a curse. Sunblock is all I can wear under the hot ball in the sky, 50 or better.

Have fun on your adventure. They are catching tuna up by Islamarada at the third reef and Mahi Mahi about 30 miles out off Marathon.

Take care.

Welcome back Pilar. I wish to fish off the Keys some day! And 'Yall, right on about grilled Mahi Mahi. It's right up in my top 3 along with spring chinook and swordfish. All either mesquite grilled or BBQ'd with butter/whitewine/herb sauce with alder chips sprinkled on the coals. Oh man, gotta go eat some smoked salmon right now! - RT
