Default Lamiglass-G Loomis

I have heard a rumor that Shimano bought Lamiglass or was it G Loomis, can somebody please let me know. It will help solve a bet/fight with my fishing buddy. And if so are all the warranty still in effect(lifetime)on Lamiglass.

It was G-Loomis. The name will stay the same, but I don't like it. I don't know if they will stray off the formula and ideas or not, but it seems to me as of late, all of shimano's stuff has gone to crap. They are mass producing too fast without doing quality control.

Loomis was purchased by Shimano some time ago... I have heard a ton of concerns but haven't seen a change on my end yet (but I don't see many factory built rods)? GLoomis is still producing (in my opinion) the best rod on the market. It still has it's limited lifetime warranty, as does Lamiglas, both warranties take the fear out of shelling hundreds of dollars out for a highend rod.

When I toured G.Loomis factory 2 months ago that was one of the first questions i ask...They said that no shimano did not buy out Loomis, they just merged. So the warranty and quality will stay the same. I tell you if anyone has an oppertunity to tour the Loomis plant do it,and after you do you'll understand why the Loomis rods are so expensive. Its just awesome....Jeff
