Default Walleye Guide

RT - Everyone,

My boss wants a 15 lb walleye to hang
on his cabin wall in Minnesota. I know
it can be had from the Columbia. Who
is the best walleye guide out there to
get this done?

******,
I would try Jack Glass he knows the columbia as well as anyone. The other would be David Johnson. I don't know how many trips he does for these guys, but I have watched him fish and catch quite a few walleye. Good luck. I'm sure someone can help here.

Best person I know of on the Columbia in the John Day area is Jack LaFonde. I try to go out with him at least once a year (and I have my OWN boat) just for a refresher on tactics. You won't spend the day in a boat with a nicer guy who is very talented on catching walleye. Jack is with Young's Fishing Service in The Dalles. You do need to be specific with him on what you want (numbers, trophies, etc) and he should be able to take care of you. He fishes from a well equipped 24 ft. sled and definitely is worth the money. Good luck and don't get "steelheader's fever" and set the hook too quick...you'll miss alot of'em if you do.

Walleye expert guide Ed Iman (sp?), from Biggs Oregon I think, is considered perhaps the best in the region. Try to find his number in the Oregon Guides and Packers directory or thru telephone directory asistance. Good luck. - RT

Is Ron Boggs still in the area? He has 2 books out on fishing the Columbia Walleye...the next 4 months would be the most likely time to get that 15# marbleeye...

Try Fly by nite guide service, Mr. Touche out of Rufus Oregon. Fished with him and it was great. Both of use put 10 + lb fish in the boat. this was in July.

Thanks for the scoop. Very much appreciated.
Have actually caught these rascals on anchor
with spinners. Would rather eat them more
than filet mignon!

****** and RT, Ed Iman phone number is 503-648-3753. He now lives in Boring. He is an excellent walleye guide, as is Jack LaFonde and Jack Glass.
