Default New Sturgeon Bait

All though I've only fished afew times for these monsters I have friend who does very well ,he gave me permission to post his favorite sturgeon bait .....Crappie
he goes down to the local pond or lake sometimes sends the kids for him ,he just filets them and lets em fly.
he very seldom doesn't come home without at least 1- keeper ,I suppose you could use perch also...good luck....Os

I think they dig Doritos chips too. Dad and I were with a guide (Nolan Smith's Guide Service) down on the Columbia this summer. Dad hooked into something that put up a good fight . Turned out it was a half-eaten bag of Doritos (jumbo bag). I casted out there where he pulled up the partially eaten bounty and hooked up back to back on sturgeon. Puts new meaning to fish n chips I guess??? crappie though...hmmmmm

Crappie is a very effective sturgeon bait.I know some guys who catch crappie and keep them alive in an aquarium to keep them fresh until they are ready to use them and cut them in to strips. They won't even go sturgeon fishing unless they have crappie.Another good bait to use is squid,it is a very durable and effective bait.

Nothing beats a vacuum frozen Cowlitz river smelt with a squirt of WD40. Especially if the smelt was dipped in the middle of the night with flooded waders and a holy net. I should know cause I'm the Y2K Sturgeon Dundee derby winner and the king of all sturgeon fishers.

Any doubters are welcome to fish gunnel to gunnel with 'Pilar' with the bait of their choice!

I've heard salmon smolts (oops illegal!) or small trout work darn good too. I'll take your idea to the river, Osprey for some field testing!

Can I get an Amen, there Krystalfalsh?

The bend is your friend!
