"NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
Etiquette at a T/A meeting is an "oxymoron" to start with so lets get to the heart of the matter!

Newbies: Walk right up to anyone, or any group, and say outloud......."Hi my name is ........ and I'm a new guy/gal!

If you shuffle your feet and stare at the floor in a corner waiting for something to happen, you ain't got what it takes for this addiction to take hold.

Old Tunaholics: When a Newbie approaches, ply him/her with liquor, and stories of screeming reels, blood baths, fish vibrating like a $50 (insert your own noun here), the mesmorizing effects of crystal clear blue water. If the Newbie bites, set the hook with tales of year long feasting on home canned fish, barbequed loins, and the adventure of off shore fishing.

Hello My name is ODIN and I'm a Tunaholic!
WELCCOME !!!!!
Bob

Re: "NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
I shouldn't be reading iFish here at work... productivity plummeting, heart pounding faster, mind wandering, plans being calculated...
I want the TA meeting to start now... don't know if I can wait till 6:30.
I'm a newbie. I will not shuffle my feet.

Re: "NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
Odin puts the heart into the matter!! my first TA meeting I had no idea what to expect and worst yet it was a JULY meeting at the Lucky Lab. there were dogs everywhere with fresh beer, food and tuna treats all over!! Pilar was leading a rigging clinic in one corner, Ragnar had a display of fish cleaning devices and home made aparatus and there was this table full of tuna snacks!! the only thig that snapped me out of my shock and amazement was Crabbait. I had been salmon fishing with him a couple weeks earlier and he shoved a jar of home canned smoked tuna in my face and told my to "try some!!" WOW! that was good stuff and I was hooked, next thing I know I was in a serious conversation about one thing or another with Kurt (threemuch). It was crazy wild fun in my book and I had no trouble staying awake on the drive back home to corvallis!!
Go! Have fun! Dont be shy!
My name is Paul Weatherford and I am a TUNA! junkie.

Find a name tag and write yours on it.
Then find an interesting conversation and butt in. Don't be shy .. this group is anything but shy. Make sure you walk around and look for any familiar faces and/or names. Remember your goal is to get your name and face associated. This then leads to rides on boats heading west. I am much more likely to invite someone I have actually met before.
See ya there.
We might have to do the alcoholics anonymous intro. But the group will have to actually listen this time. It seems lately the intros never actually get heard because the rest of us are too rude to listen instead of talk.

Re: "NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
A little advise for the newbies, you can tell a good captain by several methods. Here are just a few
He usually drinks more beer at a TA meeting
You can smell him clear across the room
His stories wont even seem possible
I got a make up baseball game to sit thru tonight for the boy. Its family time for me, no barley pop, and telling lies.

Re: "NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
I heard one of you crazy Cork Soaking Bastiges was making a Wine of some kind out of Tuna Squeezins!
Is that true?
If it is, then I must humbly step aside, and Yield to you, relinquishing my Steaming Caldron of Home Made Duck Liver Ale.
Argh me Hearties,
You tuna boys are a tougher lot than the Irish Duckers i generally run with.
But I suppose we all share the same waters eventually.., plus, you've got HUGE character, and I like that!

Re: "NEWBIE ETIQUETTE" at T/A Meeting?
I plan on comming to the T/A meeting, but must first finish my Admin. meeting with a steelheader's group. How late can I be and not considered to late for the meeting? I can be there about 7:30, is that to late? I want to get some tuna this year, as last year Mr. Fisherman took me out, but we had to come back early, as it was to rough.
Thanks for any information.
