first of all, I like the new signature, it fits you.
I tied my first pole with a paperback instruction sheet I got from the anglers workshop that was about 8 pages long.

Re: Rod building book?
ZaQ, Dale P. Clemens wrote a book entitled "The New ADVANCED CUSTOM ROD BUILDING" an excellent book that tells in detail the rod making process. Also tells in DETAIL about the different custom wrap designs. Very good solid information. You can get as involved as you want with it, from beginner to professional.

I was looking around the internet and found this web page which has step by step instructions for building a rod. I only skimmed the article but the 12 pages looks about what I had when I built my first pole. Free instructions alway rank high on my list. Near the bottom of the page is a link to rod building.

Re: Rod building book?
Here is a link to rod building basic instructions I built. Been building rods for over 20 years and the basics haven't changed....just the components.
In the old days it was the only way to get a no cold spot handle. We use to cut the metal reel seats and custom fit cork over the hood.

Re: Rod building book?
I am not familiar with a reel seat with a through blank. One could be made easily with alittle cutting and dremmeling. Easy to do just takes a little more work, but worth the effort to get what you want.

Re: Rod building book?
Weibe makes a blank exposed reel seats. If you can't find them let me know and I can send you one. The run $6-$9 depending on what size you want.
"just a side note, make sure you have the right rear cork for that reel seat, the rear cork is cut with an angle.... this allows the blank to go through the thinest section of the cork."
you may contact me if you have any further questions.
