Default Thanksgiving in Corvallis...

My family, driftboat and I will be in Corvallis over the holiday weekend. I have never fished there before and would love to get any info at all. Are there any kings left or am I looking for early steelhead? Should I hit the Alsea? Siletz? What stretch? Thanks in advance and I would love to return the favor on our Washington Rivers. Thanks Again, Nelly.

Too late for kings, too early for Siletz winters but you might find an early steelhead or two on the Alsea at that time. Somebody else will know better than I do which drift might be good early on the Alsea... Joe

Probably too early and too late, as Salmonator said. I'd throw in the crab pots for a more productive outing. Either Waldport or Yaquina should be good.

If I were you I'd try the Alsea.

Two years go the week before thanksgiving we drifted the Siletz town run. we took five fish home. Two brite salmon just like out of the ocean. Two that were in good shape. one steelhead and released a few other salmon. I think there is a good chance salmon are going to be late because we have not had much rain. Good luck.

Nelly, I would recommend fishing the Alsea River if you are after an early winter steelhead. There may be a few late fall chinook around, but their condition will probably very poor. When trying to figure where to float the Alsea, my suggestion would be the lower river from Five Rivers on down. You want the river level to be at least 3.0 feet or higher. Bill Kremers

Thanks for all the help guys! Please let me know if any of you Oregonians are coming up my way(Skagit, Sauk, Stilly or Skykomish). There's usually room in my sled or driftboat. Good luck and enjoy the Civil War this weekend, Nelly.
