Default locking gas caps for a boat??

I have an alumaweld 19ft.. and i'm just curious, do they make a locking gas cap you can use on these?

I Mean the kicker hanging off the back is tempting, but with gas (locally) over 3$ a gallon, I have a chunk of change sitting in my tank that i want to protect.. ideas?

Yes, Perko makes one. If it will fit your current inlet, you could just replace the cap, or you may have to buy the cap and fill together, not sure how it fits up. Any of the boat dealers should be able to get it, like Stevens. They will open up their big catalog and should order it for you.

Depends,
If you have a cap that has the vent system in the cap itself, your shad out of luck. If you have a real gas cap that is water tight with a seperate vent, there are a couple of different locking caps you can go with.

A friend of mine built a 'box' under his sheer deck and put a locking cover on it. Sorry ...no pix. I think a small locking hatch over the fill would work as well. I'm looking into this as well ...might have to fabricate something.

It just seems odd that you can buy a 30K boat, that the manufacturers know spends time in you driveway, and yet, you can't even BUY a locking gas cap. I don't get it...

If it were me, I would spend about 40 bucks and buy a screw on cap, vent system, pull the tank and do it right. That way you have a lock on cap. I just have lost faith in any kind of gas cap with a vent system in the cap itself. They are not waterproof and the first time a seal or whatever fails, it's gonna leave you stranded and cost you some bucks.
