Default Marine Sealant 5200

I am currently doing a small project on my boat involving the gas cap and a few other parts. Instead of silacone, I picked up some black 5200 marine sealant for above or below the waterline. I put it on last night and still find it very sticky as I type How long does this stuff take before it is set up? I am used to a couple of hours with silacone but this stuff is weird.

5 days cure time for the "regular" 5200
1 day for the "fast cure" 5200

*from the 3M website

I remember using it and thinking the same thing. Couple of days in dry weather and you will be good to go. That stuff is awesome!!! I have used it for several small projects including running the antennae for the VHF and have never noticed a drop of water!!

It may be an old tube. I've used 5200 a bunch and if its a fresh tube the stickiness isn't nearly as bad. The 5200 is good stuff, but may not be the best choice for what your doing. The 5200 is pretty much permanant. I've found for things that may need to be removed one day,the 4200 is a better choice.
