Default Youth Bow

Looking for a good bow for my daughter. she is 11 years old and has outgrown the "toy" bow i bought her a few years ago. she still has an interest in archery and i want to get her into the real thing. i tried her out on a small frame 40lb compound i have, but that was still a bit much for her to pull. i will probably want to get her into a 20lb bow with maybe a 24-26 inch draw length. recurve is fine..or an inexpensive compound would be ok too, but not really necessary.

anyone have any suggestions as to a good product?

thanks!

PSE spider, Great bow that has adjustable draw length and weight. My son has maxed his out and this will be the last year for this bow for him. He's had it for 3 years now and hunted with it for two years. They are small, simple and fast. Check them out Very nice. Parker makes a good one for the young folks to but its a bit more pricey

I'm pretty sure my buddy's still got that PSE Spyder youth bow that he's trying to sell, Ed. If you want it, let me know...

I heard something about the Mathews Genesis...."can't outgrow it, any draw length...etc." I thought of my boy when I read that. Might be something to look into.

Genesis Is good for smaller kids but if you want to develope her into a bow hunter you need to get a bow that you can slowly turn up the poundage. the genesis isn't that kind of toad. great for introduceing a kid or group of kids to archery but not something to have in your stable IMHO. case in point My son started shooting at 35 lbs and in 6 months was shooting at 50 lbs. and hunted that year. now at 14 he's shooting My mathews @70# and begging me to get him a switchback. She's 11 and the elk woods is a great place to get a kid hooked. You got them at the first bugle and its warm Kids dig hunting when there warm LOL. She may be ready for season by next fall if you get her working on it now. You will have no greater joy in the world than spending time bow hunting with your son or daughter.

Here he is shooting goofy. I give him crap about this pick all the time but he did hit the bullseye at 30 yards LOL

MM,

My son is 8 and shoots the Genesis Pro. It's a little higher poundage than the Genesis and has a draw stop. I can crank it up to 28lbs and it is plenty for him to shoot. He has a little brother that is 3, so I have another user for the bow when he outgrows it. The Genesis bows are great for the kids.

yes, i saw that one too. a little more than i was looking to spend though. she doesn't need a full-on compound set up just yet. well take the next step..see how she does..and if she wants to keep going i'll go the "distance". lol.
