Default Thanks for Cowlitz info.

Many thanks to the fisherman that gave me directions and advice on fishing the Cowlitz.

He did not give up any secret holes. Just made it easier for me to find what I was looking for.

This bb has been a great resource for me.

Well I don't know who you talked to, or how you will be fishing. Several holes to fish are right off the boat ramp at the Barrier Dam if you are fishing by boat. Fishing by means of bank maggoting means to fish up towards the damn. The orange-speckled glow corkies (2), small diamter, and a metallic finish corkie above those speckled corkies on a 2 hook setup seems to be the rig of choice by the regulars there for silvers that are bank fishing. Go up close towards the damn and just free drift eggs on a 4 ft leader. With the rise in the river, you may want to shorten your leader a bit. If you freedrift eggs close to the dam and need extra weight, use your slide swivel as usual, take a small piece of line, and attach buckshot weight to the line. That's all I can help you with. Also, if you go towards Blue Creek, before you get to the boat ramp, fish around where the power lines cross the Cowlitz. There's you some info to help you get started. Other than that. Follow the boats!

Hey_All:

Thanks for the tip on Cowlitz. I did nopt want to post the guys name on the bb who gave me the help. He knows who he is and I thanked him via email. I didn't want him to get slack for what some guys might see as giving away secret holes.

Any way, you are quite a character on the BB. Its not often that I laugh out loud, but some of the stuff that you guys go back and forth on is absolutely outrageous. Especially that skit on your wife and kid eating donuts in K-Mart.

I spent all summer on the Wilson camping and releasing native fish. Nobody around just my dog.

I caught my first Salmon last month at Eagle Creek and have been hooked ever since.

Fishing Eagle Creek was alot different than having the Wilson all to myself, but I met some cool anglers there and the Silvers on the line made it worth while.

Spent alot of hours recently on the Wilson in search of Nooks. You know the rest of that story. So I decided to make the trip to the Cowlitz.

Thanks again.

smokywhal'n,

There really aren't to many secret places left on the Cowlitz. It has been so covered by the papers and magazines over the years that really if you need to know where to go just look for the people. When we started there 30 years ago it was full of secret spots but I don't think that is really true anymore. Even though I hate the crowds we still fish it.
