Default hunting info/data on the internet?

Hey guys,

Apparently Im internet impaired, so Ill ask you guys a question. Where on the net is some good info/data on different units for elk hunting? Ive stumbled across some good stuff in the past, but forgot to write it down and now I cant remember. All of my recent attempts have been a waste of time. Im looking for harvest data, population data, maps, etc... Tried the ODFW websight, I cant seem to find anything like what Im looking for. We've been hunting Heppner for the last few years, both rifle and archery and have had little sucess. Thinking about trying some new areas this year. Im interested in Beulah and Desolation, since some distant relatives told me about the elk they have seen in these areas at a family reunion last year. My hunting partner drove out to desolation last year and said he didn't like the looks of it, which seems contrary to what others have told me. Also want to look into the Black Mountain area in Heppner? Im open to anything really, just want to get into an area that holds some elk! We've been hunting the divide well and the 5320rd in Heppner, and as before said, little sucess the last few years in this area of the unit. Most of the elk seem to hang on private until busted out and then quickly get busted back on to private. Ill be bow hunting for at least a few years until I get my points built up for a good rifle draw. Anyhow, any help anyone can offer is greatly appriciated! I know some of you must have found some great resources for this type of information.

the best info on the web for hunting oregon is here on ifish hunting. the type of info you are asking for, is known by hunters here, so with a little patience and some good maps i'm sure someone will share their scouting info.

I don't know if this will help but I would call the Bio for each of those units and have a map in hand they will give you good general info and then I would drive into the area. On the net the best info is probably found at OFWD on the stats. Once I get the info on a general area I have some topo softwar and I will put way points on the GPS so when I head over I can pin point the areas. Limbhanger knows of a good soft ware for using satilites for looking at a area. good luck but I think calling Bio's is the best bet. The phone nuumber can be found at OWFD site.
