Good job Shane. Nice to see you breaking in that beautiful boat, not that I thought it would be a problem. One of these days I've got to get after those sturg. I've never gotten a keeper, only landed a small shaker. I want to hook a big boy. About your CR, MC decision. Someone once told me(can't remember who) don't leave fish to try and find fish. 99% of the time this is true.
Keep up the good reports and if possible ad a few of that beaut of a boat.

Default CR Springer/Sturgeon Report

Had a chance to hit the water with my good buddy Cracker Joe yesterday for some Springer/Sturgeon fishing.

We started the day below St. Helens trolling for an early Springer that wanted to commit suicide but found no takers. We sat on hook for a few more hours and watched the Kwikies do their little dance of death without a strike. I maybe marked one fish while trolling. I know I'm a lot early but it was still nice to try

The water in the CR was a couple of degrees warmer than it had been so we decided to start in the big river for Sturgeon as there were 1,000,991 boats in the MC and man was I glad we stayed out there!

In about 5 hours of fishing we landed 3 keepers, the biggest being 48" and measured 4 other fish that were between 40" and 41.9999" Not a lot of shakers but all the fish were very good size. I guess they are starting to stage for the smelt and this rising water should help the cause a little more. Later in the day we hit the MC just for kicks and because the wind was picking up but the action was better in the Columbia. Smelt and squid were the tickets!

Sorry I dont have pics but my camera batteries died and I have not stocked my new boat yet with emergency camera batteries but I will!

Nice report Shane. Can't wait to get out and get some fresh Springers. Hope to see you on the water many times again this year. Let me know if you ever need a good deck hand. I think I can remember how to pull an anchor.

Fishing Maniac one spot, only move was to run from the wind (and fish) in the Columbia to the MC... I will deal with the wind next time. Remember people these fish are hungry and they will move to the staging areas as the smelt get closer

Bobby I'll see what I can do... leave the broom stick at home
