Default Chickahominy Report

Chickahominy fished very well on Sunday and Monday. Unbelievably, it was flat calm Monday. Same could not be said Sunday. But shelter and fish were found in the 'arms'.

Black mini-leeches produced early and late with a Stillwater Nymph being the ticket during the day. Most caught in the sholes 2' to 6' feet. Little bug activity though there was a minor hatch of midges and I saw handful of mayflies. Pumped a couple and found nothing but copepods and daphnia.

Fish ran 12 to 16 with one or two to 18. With the water only 54 degree the fish were hot. Boated twenty and lost half again as many.

Its a long drive and the wind may make it a bust. ButI will return in the fall to see how large they have gotten over the summer.

Thanks for the report. I lurk on this board a lot and was thinking of heading that way in July.....Would it be worth it, or is the heat of the Summer a waste of time??
