My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
I have a 1995 F350 4 door. Recently, my dome lights decided that they prefer to stay on no matter what. I have checked all the door switches and the dash/headlight switch where I'd turn them on. I have not yet found the source of the constant connection. So, each time I park it, I have to pull the fuse. What am I missing here? Why won't they turn off? Any clues?
Thanks,
CrF

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
I had a similar issue with my '97 F150 about six months ago. I couldn't locate the cause of the problem either, so my ingenious solution was to remove the bulb from the dome light. I got tired of having no light in my ride after a month and re-installed the bulb. Whatever the issue was, it was resolved. Maybe you should try removing the lightbulb for a few days and see if the problem solves itself?
Also, there is a setting on your "dimmer" for the dash gauges that will leave your dome light on if it is set for it. Maybe that's it?

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
I'd second checking the dimmer control. That happened on my wifes Taurus, had her and I completely baffled. The other thing I can think off would be to check if one of the door switches are stuck. They normally either near the upper hinge or near the strike plate.
You also might have one of the wires shorting out, so if all else fails you can trace the wires from the switch and check for any abrasions.
Hope that helps.
Pat

Dimmer switch. Hoggy, go catch a shad or something.

I spayed door jam locks with wd40 . Switch under door lock inside door . I spayed that direction with window down through window slit and the lock in side door with door open. Tree pollen gets in switch . I din't want to pull door panel so i flushed it with wd40 .

Bingo! Had the same problem with two of my Rangers in years past except the door buzzer stayed on too, quite irritating, seemed to do it mainly in hotter weather.
Went to a Ford users BB and someone told me about the WD-40 trick. Worked like a charm.

My 03 Ranger does the same thing during hoit weather only. If it gets above 80 or so in the cab it stays on for quite a while. Never have figured it out...

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
My taurus is doing that, have the fuse out now. Will try the WD-40. Somewhere there is a time delay switch that holds the light on for a few second after closing the door. Anyone know where ford hides that?

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
Door jamb locks - at the end of the door? Or the actual switches near the hinges?

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
Blast the heck out of the door lock mechanism, and then scream out obscenities.
It will work

Re: My Dome Light Won\'t Turn Off!
Entry side door. Where lock catch is that keeps door closed is. I moved catch as though door was closed and juiced it with wd.
