Default Deschutes

Fished and camped South Junction Friday thru Sunday. Fairly slow. Tried flies when the sun was off the water and spoons and spinners when sun was on the water. Did hook and land a 8# finclipped buck on Friday two minutes after the sun was behind the canyon on my 6 weight. That was fun. Had two more bumps on Sunday morning but never saw the fish. A little crowded on Saturday and saw about 5 other fish caught and two others caught Sunday morning.

Still a great trip and had great weather.

Oh yea that fished tasted pretty good for bkfst on Saturday!

I was swinging the traditional steelhead flies (skunks, frt trains, egg leech, perils) There is one drift though where several people were using nymphs with strike indicators. I call it the middle island that is right below the camp ground there. There is another good drift below that right before the red&green RR light which I call the lower island.

I did not see any chrome fish like you find in the lower river, they all had the red plates and the spots where they look like trout basiclly but the bellys were still bright.

Good luck.
