Default Outdoor Writers/Humorists-Your Faves

With the holidays closing in, and weather that could blow out rivers.Time to sit and read becomes increasingly a reality. Not that I am a big reader(I wish I was) but, one of best uses of time is, with out a doubt, kicking back and reading the fine collection of books by Patrick McCannus(I believe I have the spelling correct). If you have not read these books do your self a favor and find them and enjoy.
Do you have a favorite outdoor writer/humorist you would care to share??

letsfish, Several years ago my son gave me a Patrick McManus book, don't recall which title now, but my wife just knew I was going bonkers sitting on the couch reading and laughing so much it brought tears. When I'm the right mood there's no funnier reading than Patrick McManus.

Yes, Scarecrow I do agree. What I have found is that spouses of outdoor folks find these equally enjoyable.
I would be carefull not to give them to folks who have had recent abdominal surgery-wouldn't want them splitting stitches!

Here is my little list:

The River Why by David James Duncan- my favorite book, really funny!!

The Longest Silence by Thomoas McGuane- great writer, very unique style of outdoors writing!!

Sex, Death, and FlyFishing by John Gierach- a very good book. Girach is a real funny writer.

Many Rivers to Cross by M.R. Montgomery- great book on the wilderness of the West

River Song, Winterkill, and The Sky Fisherman by Craig Lesley. All three are great books. Lesley is probably my favorite author!!

I hope everyone who reads these books enjoy them as much as i did. Let me know what you all think

Tight lines -evan-
