Default Scappoose Bay

Hello,

I've yet to catch a bass and would like to remedy that soon. I've looked at Scappoose Bay and it looks like a nice place to start, but I haven't had much luck finding too many places to fish from. So far I've only been to the marina, with the small trail. Are there any other areas with decent bank access?

I have never had any luck in Scappoose bay either. I have a boat and I was wondering about some spots to fish at in the bay. I didnt even get a bite when I went out there, Is it better to run out into the channel or fish the bay?

tough place to fish from the bank. I wonder if you could wade around and chuck spinnerbaits across shallow areas that big boats can't get to. At high tide, a lot of those fish creep up really shallow to feed and then go back deeper as the tide recedes. There are alot of bass in the bay but alot in the channel, too, and the channel fish are not as affected by tide. Bank access is tough almost anywhere in Oregon- we don't have the deep, weed-free lakes like So Cal. Have you guys tried Coffenburry? Lot's of bass- can be tough, but LOT'S of bank access. Dave

I did see a couple fish break the surface at the flooded cover by the trail at the marina, but I couldn't get them to take anything I threw at them. Since the cover was so thick (and I'm a decided beginner at casting), the most I could really throw was a weedless senko (3").

Coffenbury, is that the lake in Astoria? Looks like I'll have to make a trek up sometime. Thanks for the tip.
