Default No halibut - but a good trip to the Gulf Stream

OK, the halibut situation out of the CR sucks big time. I made it out a total of two trips. Looks like I will be trailering south.

While I missed the past two weeks of halibut fishing due to working on the east coast, all was not lost. I managed to make it offshore with a fishing buddy. He has a SWEET 26' Pro-Cat with twin 225 Yami's.

It's a long run to the stream from Savannah - you start fishing at 80 miles out. So it's an early run. First fish in the boat at 6:30A:

Total for the day was 17 boated, about another 10 lost, and had a sail in the baits for around 5 minutes whacking at the baits but not taking. Couldn't get him to pickup a dropped back bait either. It was a great trip!

So, Bud - I will be seeing you in Garibaldi so I can fill my halibut tag.

I'd say you got the better end of the deal! Lots of time for Hali's out of Newport this year. Nice!

Nice pictures Dean. They look like they are a lot more fun to catch than barn doors. I knew that the good weather at the end of the season would fill our quota really fast. Not long till salmon and tuna too. Ray

Boy Dean, add to that a bunch of yellowtail this weekend and your freezer should be full. Nice to see you at the second annual deep water fishery yesterday.
