Default Ford Truck Problem

Alright Ford Guys....Electrical Stuff Scares Me

Everything in the truck seems to operate fine. All the lights, switches, dash lights, radio...work great, until you turn the truck off and the FAN STAYS ON! That is it, the heater fan stays on. Once you turn the fan dial to OFF, it won't come back on again like normal until you start the truck again, then the fan stays on again.... .

Ever heard of something like this.....

Dan

Looks like it's not uncommon.....here's just one incident.
Google Searching will show more.

bad switch? when you turn off the ignition it should disconnect power from accessories. first thing i would do is make shure ignition is adjusted correctly. on top of steering colume is the switch, it is attatched to key by rod, this is adjustable with two bolts. over time wear will cause this adjustment to be out of sink.

Not thinking bad switch as the heater fan is the only acc that still operates after the key is off...and there was a few drops of water on the dash board this morning...

bad switch?
My 94 F150 I didn't even need a key after a while to start it, only way the switch would lock is if you went to Accessory and back to off than it would lock and require the key. Didn't have that problem, but did have phantoms in the dash lights.

I'll loan you the use of a very large caliber handgun to put it out of it's misery.
I'm thinking of doing the same to my Dodge. I think it has a broken leg!

not the GEM module I just had that done on my truck he would have many other issues!! that sucks big time and is not cheap!!

I would take it in and have it fixed at a dealership. elcectrical issues can be very expensive to trouble shoot let them hook it up and tell you excatly what is wrong. I finaly had to as bad as it hurt and I am happy to say it is the only way to go on an electrical issue.

Got back in the truck after work yesterday and the problem has subsided. I resealed the windshield and there was no water on the dash this morning...also no problem with the heater fan.

I hope what ever was wrong dried out and will continue to work properly.

We'll See.

I don't know the year of your truck, but it sounds like a bad fan relay.
