Default Suggestions to protect Desk Top????

Can anyone suggest what I might do to protect my wood desktop?
I've been thinking about 1 piece of glass.
Where to look/call?
Dimensions 7'1" x 22"

You could also call some place like TAP Plastics and get a piece of clear plastic cut to size. The plastic would be a lot lighter than glass and virtually unbreakable. The major drawback is that most plastics scratch easier than glass.

Look in the telephone book for a glass shop, the kind that sells mirrors and panes. They will hook you up, the glass for a desk will need a beveled edge so there is no sharp egdes. There are ways to secure it to the desk too. I once did my office desk with a smoked glass top, it looked sharp.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Nice looking desk! Did you build it yourself?

A sheet of glass would be my suggestion as well. As Rodaction mentioned, your local glass shot should be able to sand the edges so they aren't sharp. I feel it is probably one of the best options. It will definitely complement your new desk.
