Re: Have you seen this?
That looks like it might be perfect for sturgeon. I bet they'd work well a foot above a wobbler or a spinner in the fall too. I might have to give it a try.

Re: Have you seen this?
This is not a new idea. I was shown by a fisherman in 1993,how to modify a bobber to despence sent over a long period while trolling. I was wondering how long it would be before someone would commercialy market such a device. I will be curious to see how well it works compared to our homemade ones.

The gentleman was promoting his product at last the ANWS Tackle Swap Meet in Hillsboro last year. They looked good and I got a couple, but haven't used 'em yet.

Re: Have you seen this?
Don't know about the commercially made ones, but my homemade ones are great for sturgeon!

Re: Have you seen this?
I know Larry Sydow (Sy's Flies & Jigs) pretty good. He was a couple of my kids school teacher. I've been using his scent dispensers (old style) on sturgeon for about 3 yrs. now. They do work. I put cotton inside the bobber to help hold the scent longer. He used to sell pretyed sturgeon leaders with the dispenser at Dereks Barber Shop here in Jefferson. Also have seen them at Sportsmans Warehouse. He also makes some awesome Jigs. Haven't tried the new style dispenser yet. I felt the old ones dispensed the scent to fast that's why I use cotton.

Re: Have you seen this?
Would such a device fall under the label of chumming? This is a little different than applying a scent directly to the item you expect the fish to bite. This is a device designed to leave a scent trail to attract fish to the area your bait is in, hence increasing the chance of your bait being devoured by a hungry fish. Putting scent on your bait is designed to leave a scent trail designed to lure a fish directly to your bai. The difference is small but may be important in the eyes of a game enforcement officer. Does it make a difference that the scent device is attached to your line?
Just curious - I think it would work well.

Good Question Gr8waves- I'm sure or at least would hope if he's going to invest a small fortune into having it mass produced he has checked into every angle.

Re: Have you seen this?
I would'nt think it would be Chumming. It is attatched to your line that is attatched to your lure. If it where considered Chumming, then the scent you put on you lure would be Chumming too.
