Bass Basics for a Newbie
I have access to a good bass and panfish pond that's only about a mile from my house... But I'm a salmon/trout/steelhead/shad guy and I've never fished for bass before. Any tips or suggestions for stillwater bass fishing?
Thanks a bunch.

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
top waters are fun and easy, just cast out reel in, wait to feel the weight of the fish when it explodes on the lure!

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
Ive only fished a few times for the little fish and I was showed by ExBassGuide how to use a 3 inch senko (pumpkin seed is my favorite color) and you can catch em all day by just twitching the senko.

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
i suggest buying a couple of spinnerbaits 3/8 or 1/2 oz a white one and a chartuce one throw it around a bass pond and you'll catch fish... plus they are fairly weedless so you can throw them most anywhere

Yea, carolina rig a tube, lizard or brush hog. Black, watermellon green or an orng/red colors would be my choices.

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
I twitched 5 inch green pumpkin/black fleck Yamasenkos tonight for about 2 hours with no success. These were recommended by one of the guys at FMS, but I'll try the 3 inchers next.

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
Payday, I'm the opposite of you, since I'm a former bass guy going to salmon/trout/steelhead.
I used to KILL the bass back east (Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut) with the infamous purple worm close to underwater obstacles. Jitterbug was also fun if the water is really still and the fish aren't jaded.
I should get my bass gear and hit Hagg one of these days...

Re: Bass Basics for a Newbie
I'd like to take up the offers to fish from posts and pm's, but my schedule lately has been really unpredictible. Any time to fish has been a last minute decision, so I just wanted to say thanks.
