the last time I saw a price for a yanmar diesel outboard I almost choked on whatever I was eating at the time.

Horsepower won't translate well from a diesel to a gas engine because of the difference in torque curves. However weight will be higher than the same size gas motor because of the higher compression involved in a diesel the engine has to be designed a little more stout so it doesn't blow up.
