Default Skein Your help is needed in Washington!!!

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Two small boys were nipped by a coyote in this suburb east of Seattle, and state wildlife officers were setting traps to try to catch the animal.
Jacob Town, 4, was bitten in the bottom Tuesday evening while playing in his front yard while his mother was working nearby. About an hour later, 18-month-old Tristan Bec was nipped on the ear and scalp as he played with his brother at a school playground.

The boys were released from hospitals following treatment for minor puncture wounds and scratches. They were given rabies shots as a precaution.

Cassandra Town said her son told her a dog had just bitten him. She didn’t realize it was actually a coyote until a commotion arose down the street when an adult neighbor reported being nipped.

Rachelle Bec said she was about four feet from her toddler and had just turned her back to get a bottle of water from her stroller when the coyote pounced.

“When I turned back the coyote ran so fast and jumped on him and started to bite his ear,” Bec said. “I turned around and threw my water bottle at him and it kind of startled the coyote.”

Capt. Bill Hebner of the state Department of Fish and Wildlife said the attacks were the most recent of five confirmed coyote encounters since late March. All likely involve the same animal they were in the same area, he added.

Hebner said he’s never deal with a coyote biting incident in the region before.

“It’s rare here, but it is going on in the western United States,” he said. “It was just a matter of time. I expect this to be recurring problem for a long time.”

That's weird! My first inclination would be to say it's probably not a coyote. But who knows...anything is possible. I wonder if it's not a dog that looks like a coyote? Every coyote that I have ever encountered wants NOTHING to do with us.

Actually it's nothing real new. Vancouver, BC has had a long-time problem with urban coyotes getting brave or conditioned enough to bite people - especially kids! I remember reading about it in the Vancouver paper while I was fishing in Canada.

Now that's scary.

I've got a coyote working around the house, we have a bark collar on the pet beagle and I was indisposed (you know what I mean) and the beagle starts trying to bark, which I know means something is up. Finally the wife takes a look and there was a coyote next to the dog. When I finally get the britches up and into the front room, the coyote was about 80 yards away, standing by a wood pile. If it wouldn't have been for being in the darn city limits, there would have been a BANG!

They are all around us, shouldn't be a surprise that one would get brave and start biting. I'm just hoping to find one of those out in the woods!

P.S. the city limits is just a little over a hundred yards away and I have permission to hunt in the back 20, I think I will have to get the Fox Pro out. Now, let's see, kitty cat, small foo foo dog or small child sound, hmm have to check the Fox Pro site to see what they have.
