Semi-auto .223
I looking to sell my single shot .223 and move up to a semi-auto, for Varmets, ect.
What do you all use, or favorites, Thanks Norski.
I have a New England Arms, the nice part, you can pick up 5,6,7,??? different barrows for it.

Re: Semi-auto .223
I would take a hard look at any AR-15 with a flat-top for mounting glass. Most 15's are plenty accurate as manufactured and are easily upgradable. Avoid Ruger Mini 14's since they won't shoot under 2" unless you customize and there are very few quality upgrade options out there. Most other 223 autos are not known for accuracy.
My best advice would be to get a new or used Browning Abolt or Remington 700 in 223 and forget the semiauto idea.

Re: Semi-auto .223
Olympic Arms ar-15 flatop 22" heavy barrel. Very reasonable price and very deadly on varmints!

Re: Semi-auto .223
Ive been considering picking up one of the New England arms like your talking about. Hopin you can share your thoughts and experience with them.
What model do you have? How do you like it? Other than being a single shot.
What kind of groups you gettin with it.
I'd appreciate hearing whatever you have to share.
Thanks ,

Re: Semi-auto .223
Olympic Arms K8 AR15, shoots 1/4"-1/2" MOA @100 yards, and 1"-1.5" groups @ 200 yards right out of the box, and I aint that great of a shot!
My dads Oly K3B M4, with a 16" SS M4 barrel, shoots 2" groups @ 200 yards.
Oly Arms K8 cost over $400.00 less than a Bushmaster Varmiter, is built in the Northwest and carries a lifetime warranty!
I'm waiting for my new MEGA A4, I shipped it off to Kentucky, for a full desert camo Durocoat paint job, can't wait!

Re: Semi-auto .223
I have a precision Bolt gun in .223.
I also have a pretty good AR15, but it's never been "super accurized".
My Bolt rifle will shoot dime sized (or smaller) groups at 100 yd.s all day long.
Part of that equation is its trigger which I have set at 14 oz., my preference for Varmint rifles of this type.
I read about 1/4"-1/2" groups with various AR15 type rifles.
I'd like to see/shoot one sometime.
My AR has a good (worked on) trigger, but it's NOTHING like the trigger/s on my bolt action Varmint rifles!
Just one thing to consider when switching to this type of rifle.

Re: Semi-auto .223
Norski,
NOoooo!!! Don't sell it! Those little NEF single shots are fine little shooters. Fix that heavy trigger pull and you'll like it even more. I had one, a laminated heavy taper barrel .223 and it shot as well and my heavy target barrel AR15. It is an honest to god one hole rifle. My brother has it now. Don't sell it, just add the semi-auto. A good AR15 gets my vote.
