Default 40 horse force motor

i am having a problem getting this motor started. it sounds like it wants to kick over and is getting spark.gas to the pump and carb but it just will not fire. has anyone else had this problem and if so what else could be the prblem and how did you go about fixing it.

thanks gary

I used to have a force 40 hp , was a 1988 40 in the 2 stroke variety,

That beast was as termpermental as the ycome, and it didnt help that i had several junctions and wiring connections that were badly corroded and prevented the motor from really getting the full cranking power of the battery.

Is it cranking strong, or just barely... might see if you can get it started with a battery topper set to full powerr just to get it to go.

Give it a quick shot of starter fluid down the throat - if it has both spark and fuel that should kick it over. My (well rid of) ancient Chrysler 9.9 was cold blooded in the morning and that was the only cure.

Check the bulb. Drain and clean the bowl.
Check plug for spark--change it out.
If it is trying to fire up, you might have
a fuel problem--that is no pressure feeding
the fuel to the bowl.
Bulbs are notorious for failing.
