Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
Hopefully someone has something good to report because I sure don't. Spent Thursday through Sunday up in area 6. Did not get to fish Friday because of the wind at all, but Thursday and Saturday I put 14 hours on the water and then 7 Sunday before heading home. One 25#er in the boat from Saturday and caught about a 6 foot Skate that tore me up for a while on a big tide swing. First for one of those didn't know fish could hiss at you.
Anyhow I am beginning to think it is not going to be a very good year at all. Only a couple fish into the campground boat ramp I fish out of all weekend. Someone tell me something good please.

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
We gave it a solid effort Sunday with no luck. I fished 31-36, the rockpile (near PA), coyote bank, & hein bank on Sunday. The weather was unbelievable! We ran from Cornet Bay to 31-36 (near Port Angeles) in well under an hour @ 42 MPH average! We covered over 80 miles of water looking for fish.

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
We spent about 8 hours with 3 people and not a bite out of Pt. Townsend. Mainlyfished Partridge and Eastern banks. A buddy boat did get 3 from 12-43 lbs. So far we have invested 7 man/days and haven't had a hali bite. I personally hooked and landed a trophy sculpin though.

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
Port Townsend,on the opening, The fish-in-hole dock saw about 18 fish at the dock with a 148# being the big guy,all caught on the McCurdy humps by Protection Is. We saw about another 6 or so more while fishing out there. The weather for this last few days was a no go but for sunday and today i'd say at least another 10 to 12 more.A friend of mine got a 60 and a 45 off of Partridge point Sunday. Another friend got a 47# on Dallas banks. We fished four days so far and got three fish and i lost one to the otter at the Fish-in-hole dock.Today was one beautiful day out there but no fish in our area but did hear of another 140 pounder off of the Dungeness bar on Sunday.I'd say that's not too bad for the amount of time we got on the water so far, we should get another batch in here soon migrating out to the ocean. If you come to our area call Mike at the fish-in-hole (360)385-7031 and he'll give you a fish report for the PortTownsend area. Good luck.

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
Like Bee, we so far have invested 8 man days Hali fishing without a fish.
Fished w outerlimits and shaggy357 at Canadian swiftsure Sat, lumpy ride out past Tatoosh, very fishable after that. Fished 5 pts just outside the Can closure box. Fishing bud Tim had nice fish on his "stingy" 7 yr old Tuffline..can you say POW!!!! Lost fish..bummer. Relentless a 20' Bayliner from Olympia was our wingman. They boated 2 x 10# fish. We fished 31-36 and the humps Sunday, awesome water as many have note, saw 2 fish caught..but none for us.

4'-6' is still better than 9-5!!
If it doesn't have a bill...it's just bait!!

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
FYI, Puget Sound halibut migrate "out" of the sound in April/May remember this is a moving target untill they hit the deep, there's more coming.Last year we caught them through May then it slowed down around here. The Port Angeles derby is around the last week of May i believe. Nice skate Jason S,wait till you fight one for a hour or so, that's a BIG let down when you bring them up. Nice pic also, good luck on your next trip.

Re: Weekend Reports from the Straits?????
That was what happened he was on about 45 minutes then I saw color and thought it was a huge flattie. Well untill I noticed the tail that is. Ohh well it was fun. He was heckj with the big current that was going to control he kinda just sailed on it and gave me problems controlling.
