Default Reading Snotel data

So I am looking at the Snotel data for Mt. Howard ( Link ) and am trying to understand the snow depth column. I am looking down it and the numbers seem to make large jumps at times (ie. at 5 am this morning it says it was 6.4 inches but at 11 am it is 159.9) can any one tell me exactly how to read this?

Thanks
Adam

Default Re: Reading Snotel data

I think the snow depth is measured by conductivity and the sensor could be getting some false readings. I have always just averaged the readings and called it good.
