Default Eagle Creek needs Emergency Closure

This morning at daylight there were over 200 cars parked between Wildcat Mtn rd. and the George Fire Station. One door from a car is lying in the ditch, Oops? 50 cars at the upper fish ladder....not enough water for fish to change pools...getting hammered...hard...NO LAW ENFORCEMENT observed...the standard set up is #2 treble and orange yarn....spotters on the bridge...huge pods of salmon...combat fishing at its best. Should be closed until the water at least covers their backs...A sick site...gabage in the parking areas...Lets at least clean up...

Steve,
This makes me sick. I hate to hear about this and agree that until there is more water it is literally fish in a barrel. Sad...

WOW, 250 people i was planning on going over there next week and doing some legal fishing but if its that crazy i might just go right down license plates or something. Havent ever fished there before is it always like that? Also were there that many people there at daybreak or was it later? Thanks for the info, hopefully the ran we are supposed to get monday and tuesday will make it a little more sporting

This is one of those things that really makes me question the sanity of it all. It's no different than a shark feeding frenzy. The rationale? To take a fish home for food? I think not considering salmon in the store out weighs the cost of licenses (if they even bothered), tackle, gas etc. If it's for the thrill of having something pull on the end of your rod, attach your mainline to one of the neighborhood dogs and throw a steak bone.

This is the same behavior that I used to see on the Miami when the chum runs were strong.

It's enough to p!ss off the Pope.

IF YOU CAN'T CATCH IT LEGAL, THEN SET YOUR A$$ AT HOME!

Steve: I've seen the same type of rig used at Cascade Locks for shad (except for the spotters). FOR SHAD!!! You have to be pretty lame not to be able to catch a shad legally. I agree with the thought of the closure. At least close it above the first bridge.

OSP WHERE ARE YOU?

Good take and suggestions for the snaggers MoJet! LOL And now I hear there are actually guys that snag shad!?! Nice hobby; ROFLAMO! Maybe they are inbreds from a family of chum snaggers? - By the way, AAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGG!

To Clarify the issue of Cascade Locks, I have fished there for Shad, useing small treble hooks with Flo. Orange and Flo. Green yarn. Sweeping the Wall with an 8oz. sinker, and have never snagged a Shad (all hooked in the mouth) Cascade Locks is a very clickish deal do as the locals do...or hear about it...real sticklers even when someone accidently snags a fish plunking...a good bunch of guys for the most part...I use #2 hook and Yarn with shrimp oil for silvers...don't need to snag..however I haven't wet a line in Eagle Creek this season and if I miss the run so what....Not going to be part of the problem..however I can be vocal...Steve
