Re: Some place to take a kid panfishing (without a boat)
Gill,
Not sure of anyplace in the immediate McMinnville area, but Salem Has a bunch of warmwater ponds. Also Adair North of Corvallis has a good pond that ODFW keeps well stocked with pan fish, but I think it closes shortly for duck season. And I've caught a few bass at Wilsonville pond right off of the I-5.

Hey George, ah Gillfish I mean,
Ever try the ponds at Mission Mill or St. Louis ponds? I donno if Minto Brown in Salem is very accessible. Might be worth a try though.

Not too close to McMinnville, but Sauvie Island has a lot of places to just fish for the wiggle. ODFW owns 11,000 acres, (yes eleven thousand). Most is closed now for the waterfowl season but the boat ramps are open like Gilbert River, and Ferry Street, both on the Multnomah Channel.

Some place to take a kid panfishing (without a boat)
Hey Guys and Gals, I have been looking for a place to take my son panfishing...been to Hagg lake and have not had much luck with out a boat. I would sure love to find a farm pond or something like that to take him. Any info would be great. I live in McMinnville but dont mind a little drive. Thanks in advance!!!!

Hey Gillfish,
If you are up to a little day trip you could try the Vernonia Pond.
The is very good access all the way aroung via paved path. There are picnic tables but not too much shade in the summer. There are various warm water fish and put and take trout stocked there. Powerbait works as well as anything.
You could also travel down to Jewel to look at the Elk herd. My boy loved it.
Tight lines,
