Yesterday, as you all know was beautiful! Well, at the Mouth of the Columbia River, the sunrise was Spectacular.

Odin launched at Ilwaco at 6:00 and rendezvoused (I hate using French words), with Minaki at buoy 10 at 06:30. We ran south to drop our pots and then followed Tom out to the shale pile.
This was the first time for the new ODIN to make an offshore run. I thought this Hewescraft would be a good fishing platform, but, WOW !!! What a rough water dream. We sucked in behind Minaki, as Tom would knock the tops off the really tall waves.

Following Minaki was kind of like following a snowplow up to Mt Hood, in a white out. You couldn’t see what was coming, but you trusted that the driver knew the road.

After we arrived at the shale pile we hooked a few fish, but the gusting 20 mph NE wind was making the drift so fast we had to use too much weight to get to the bottom.

We finally had enough and followed Minaki home. It was sure nice to have that big boat ahead of us going home, heading into the wind, in what we guessed was 4 and 7 at 5 seconds seas. THANKS TOM!!!!!

We did a little better on crabbing than last time. We pulled 4 pots with a total of 16 keepers.

What a great day to be on the ocean, all of us got a little sun burn, wind burn, and some salt in out cuts.

See you all tonight at the TA Meeting.
