Boy a legal C-Bass anytime is great but to get a 50+ in a kayak is incredible......no problem paddling back with an extra 50lbs either.....since the big croakers swim in schools, wonder if he would have kept fishing if the limit was 3 instead of one and done? Guess you can drag em behind on a stringer like trout and hope you don't attract anything else.

The white sea bass are making a comeback in So-cal I bet the removal of gill nets within 3 miles of shore really helped. I worked for the National Coaalition for Marine Conservation to help make that happen 25 years ago. Sea world and SDG&E created hatcheries and It must of worked. White sea bass were foumd in large schools in the 60's and early 70's at the Coronados...Good eatin fish

Les, You bungee the fish into the front well or stow it in the front hatch of the SOT kayak...You wouldn't want to be draggin that prize in front of blue sharks or seals  You catch a fish like that in a kayak you head in fast..Most Kayakers can't and don't get greedy They prefer writeups in large papers for publicity ... I know from experience  Glenn

Copy that Glenn,,,,,,yeah the Kayak tourneys they have down below seem to be well attended,,,,,the winners seem to catch either halibut, yellows or this time of the year, real nice C-bass. Calicos and such are probably listed as no biggie as everyone wants the "quality" stuff. Wonder if anyone does the Thresher thing from a kayak,,,,get towed all over the big pond..........

The calicos get popular after the halibut are done spawning inshore & the easy fishing is over. The rocks along the beaches from Crystal pier & to the north hold calicos & the locals kayak or "board" fish them with swimbaits.
