I'm curious as to the penalties of these "citations" that are issued. I know someone who was hit for about $75 this year for not tagging fish that he had on the beach. These were big, egg-laden fish so in the grand scheme of things the penalty for getting caught occasionally is worth the risk.

fobbman, I don't think ANY violation is worth the risk. If EVERYONE just obeyed the rules only as long as they were afraid of being caught, there would be so much more turmoil along our rivers and streams. If more true "sportsmen" would play by the rules it would be better for all of us!

Oh, I agree that we should all play by the rules. The person I mentioned came home with six fish in the 30+ lb range. Do the math and considering the fine it's some cheap fish.

What I'm trying to point out is that the fines should be much steeper.

They should have confiscated his gear, his vehicle and his underwear also (when they did the removal surgery on his male parts)!! Do ya think that'd be too radical just to get his attention?
