I got two with them last year in the Multomah Channel. I was using a diver, big red and silver fish flash, five foot leader, and red RSK. I am by far no expert, more like the exact opposite on springer fishing but it worked for me that day.

I think RSKs may be the greates fishing invention of late. I think they rock! Seriously. They make fishing herring really easy, and if they are rolling too quick, I hear you can clip the fin (carefully) to make them roll slower. Any thoughts on that?

I have tried them quite a bit and have much better luck trolling cut plugged blue and green label. Some like whole herring too. A fish flash doesn't seem to hurt but doesn't seem to matter too much.

I was thinking they would work good fishing on anchor. I was going to do a double rig with a kwikie on the bottom and then 6 ft up use the rotary. I think it would work better than cut plug on anchor unless the tide was rippin.

Jimmy a whole herring works fine on the anchor. They will also last longer, in that the open cut plug won't flare out/tear up as much either.

You adjust the roll with the current.

So those that like them, how do you rig them on a cut plug? One in front of the top hook? Anybody have any pics?

Thanks,

If you liked the RSK then you should try luhr jensens herring 101 rig. Caught lots of fish on my own modified version of that setup in the willy last spring, and down at B-10 last fall.

Default Rotarary Salmon Killers

I would like to hear some opinions about the use of RSK's for springers on the Willamette.

I have used them with success for coho at bouy 10 but am wondering how they would work trolling around on the Willamette.

I guess the best thing to do would be go and try, but how about some pros and cons?

Thanks,
Mike

I dont see why they wouldn't work. I've seen a lot of fish caught on less than perfrct rolls, but I cant get away from the big slow roll of death that I get without them. Just my .02

When using the RSKs do you just let the hooks dangle or do you stick them in the bait? Their instructions don’t say what to do with the hooks?
Thanks

Pull the hook down to the tail and let it dangle. That is what killed the Salmon out in the ocean last year, I couldn't imagine springers being that much different.
