Washing Each Other's Feet
Before Jesus underwent his death on the cross, Jesus showed his disciples the full extent of his love. Getting down on his knees, Jesus became like a servant, washing each one of his disciples dirty feet. He even washed the feet of Judas, who would soon betray him after this event. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords humbled himself to a servant and gave us this command:
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." John 13:15-16
So how do we wash one another's feet? By continually serving each other with love and grace. In humility, we consider others better than ourselves and not look only to our own interests but also to the interests of others. We also share the same attitude as Jesus Christ:
"Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:11
Man, I can't wait for that day when I meet my Savior face to face, and bow before him in humble adoration. We will all be home with our God, where there wil be no more evil, death, or tears! With that hope we make it through the trials and struggles that we deal with everyday. Thank you Jesus! To him be glory forever and ever, Amen!
