Default Archery deer in the S. Pualina/ Fort Rock units

I was curious if anyone here has hunted these areas recently for archery deer. I haven't been in the last 3 years and was wondering if it has been good hunting.

I have not bowhunted over there in at least 3 years. I would think that it would be should be good in the Fort Rock unit for deer. I rifle hunted over there last year and we were a big goose egg but that was primarily due to the weather and the amount of hunters and maybe due to the fact they thinned out our hunting hot spots

PM Baltz he knows those area's very well.

I hunted Fort Rock last year, 1st week of season saw nothing but does, one forked buck. Went back down and hunted the last week of season; snowed about 3 inches and saw only one buck. I worked/walked hard and saw a ton of does but only a few bucks. A lot of debris on the ground that made it hard to walk quietly. Found some spots where I would set up and sit but no action.

I haven't really hunted between 97 and 31, just east of 31. I have driven through on some of the main roads like the one from 97 to 31 that goes through antelope flat and the klamath marsh but haven't ventured to much north of there on the logging and forest service roads. Is there a lot of waterholes that a guy could sit on for deer/antelope. I also have a beer tag in this unit and am heading over in a couple of weeks, I have heard that sellers marsh is a good place to look for bears and around that area looks like some other marshes as well. Just hoping someone could more less give me a lay of the land in this area and what to expect. thanks

We did find some water holes over there not the sumps there are sumps all over the place. We did find some natual springs last year but I will have to refer to a map that I don't have here. We saw more elk sign than ever but we only saw one cow elk. I have never seen a bear over there in either archery season or rifle season. I know they are there. The best person to ask is Baltz he knows that country very well and he can give you some info.

I believe it is going to be a total crap shoot on the bears there this spring. I don't think I will even go over until the first weekend in may because of how much snow there is over there. If the weather keeps up like it has been the nest couple weeks should do the bear hunting some good. Thanks for all of your input guys.
