Default Couch and Chair covers

I don't want to get a new couch for a while.
Does anyone know if those couch and chair covers really work? Do they stay on, or are they a constant hassle?

Anyone have them?

I finally broke down and bought one for a chair and it seems alright so far.

Any ideas where to get them inexpensively?

Jen

1.) As far as getting them inexpensively, eBay is the way to go. They have more slipcovers for chairs/couches than you can shake a stick at.

2.) To make the slipcovers stay in place, use tightly rolled old magazines (keep them rolled up with rubber bands) tucked deep into the gaps between the cushions and the back/arms.

Pieces of 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe works good for holding the slip covers in place too. Easy to cut and they work good. You can cut it to the length of your cushions so it fits any couch or chair. The same technique as the magazines.

I'm so sorry, but I don't understand. Where are you placing the pipes/mags?

I looked at Ebay. Nothing for sectionals.
The only place I can seem to find sectionals, and very few at that, is sure-fit.

The pipes/magazines go into where you've tucked the cover into the couch or chair (behind the seat cushions and below the back). When the ex-wife just had to have a leather couch, a cover was the next purchase considering the three dogs. They work pretty well, and the "stuffing" trick really helps keep 'em in place.
