i don't know how to respond to this honestly without appearing to be disrespectful firecat. you and i have have spoken enough times now that i hope that i can trust that you know that i do not mean disrespect.

i guess i have to ask why you posted this? what is the purpose of something like this?

look, people are just that. people. they come in all sizes and shapes. none are perfect. that is a universal truth. we all have failings, we all make mistakes; some try harder than others to learn from their mistakes and that is really one of the ways to look at people. performance does matter, but more than performance the pursuit of performance in life is a way to look at people.

on the other hand, we all do good things. even the worst of us does. we all have some success.

why do you place such emphasis on failure.......on forgiveness from God..........on your inabililities?

God is not there to forgive you. He knows that you are a human being. He is there to just watch you grow. He watches as you stumble and feels sorrow. but He watches as you learn and as you succeed..........as you get better and He smiles. that is the trust, and the hope that He places in people.

enjoy the successes. i have watched you here. you probably do make some mistakes, but your heart is good. why must you dwell on the negative? certainly God does not.

i tell you, i get so weary sometimes. after the last few discussions i had decided not to post here for a bit, but rather to sit back and watch. sometimes i feel like the odd man out here. i should follow my feelings but this post so affected me that here i am again. i apologize for that and will try harder to follow my own advice.

God is not there to forgive you.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, Newfly we all sin (Isaiah 53:6 "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way" and Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God").
The fact that I recognize my sin and feel badly about it should give me encouragement for several reasons. For one thing, a lot of people sin and don't think there's anything wrong with it - yet God has opened my eyes to seeing how destructive it can be. But God does not want me to live with guilt. He wants me to know and fully experience His forgiveness.
God does not simply overlook my sin and say, "You're forgiven." God sees my sin but is ready to forgive me because Jesus fully took my sin on Himself and paid for my sin by His death on the cross. My sin is serious and it cost Jesus incredible suffering. But from the moment I received Christ into my life, His forgiveness is mine. I can't ever make up for MY own sin or suffer enough for it - nor does God want me to. "But God demonstrates His own love for me in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8.
But what about when I struggle with an area and keep on sinning? Does God get so weary forgiving me that I, at some point, reach my limit?
Jesus was asked by the disciples how many times they needed to forgive someone. “Then Peter came and said to Him, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven’” (Matthew 18:21,22). It’s unlikely that Peter could keep track of whether he forgave a particular individual 490 times yet, so you see Jesus’ point. You always forgive, because God always forgives us. God does not have a limit. He died for every one of my sins—those I have committed and those I will commit—past, present, and future sins.I need to begin looking at my sin the way God looks at it. And here is what He says in the Bible:
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1John 1:9
"My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." 1John 2:1,2
"As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us." Psalm 103:12
"You have put all my sins behind your back." Out of sight. God no longer "sees" me in light of my sins. He sees Jesus righteousness for me." Isaiah 38:17
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Sins are no longer "kept on file", record is blotted out, destroyed. God cannot "forget" like in human error, but He chooses to "not remember." Isaiah 43:25
"All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself...in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them...For our sake He made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5:18,19,21
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1
We are told that Satan is the "accuser of the brethren", meaning that Satan will try to convince us that God could never love us. We need to recognize those thoughts as lies and instead choose to believe what God says. What God says about us in His Word (the Bible) is truer than anything we could think or feel. Jesus said that those who build their lives on His word are those whose lives stand strong and secure, able to weather anything in life (see Matthew 7:24-27).
And you see Newfly if I confess my sins regurlay and realize that I commit sins everyday, and need forgiveness, then I in return will forgive thoes who say things against me or do wrong againt me, For the same forgivness that is given me then is given to thoes around me, and believe me this is tough for there is one truly way to stay somewhat humble, and that is for one to realize that he or she stumbles or falls on a daily bases therefore I will never be able to put myself upon a so called "pedestal" so to speek like somany do.
And I shall add Newfly, I totally respect any of your responces you are made in the wonderful image of God and I will respect you as such and always will...Lord Bless

FireCat.
Thanks for your post. We are in the same boat.
1 John 1:8-10
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

NIV
You are only agreeing with what scripture say about all Christians, it helps us from falling into the sin of PRIDE.
Happy Easter FireCat.

I think we need more Lutherans here . It’s not I’m a sinner or I’m a saint. In truth it’s I’m a sinner AND I’m a saint equally at the same time. Can every Christian answer yes to the below questions:

I’m perfectly holy and righteous in Christ before God?
I fall short of God’s plan for me each and every day?

If so, then you now know you are both a saint and a sinner. Make sure you emphasis both in your life – never one over the other, and never one without the other.

Mr. Rimrock my friensd. to that questian you posed I can answer A BIG YES. I do fall short of what I should be everyday but by the blood that Jesus bled for me on the cross I am as white as snow in Gods Eyes all because of what Jesus did on the cross for me and you and all others that are found in Christ. The ones that are not found to be in Christ I can only pray that they will see the light before it is to late and except Christ as thier personal SAVIOR. Some of you will put the flame to me but flame away Because I KNOW WHERE I STAND WITH THE GOD OF THE BIBLE AND CHRIST MY SAVIOUR AND LORD.
