Default Handicapping the Tuna Tournament

Ok………
I was thinking…. (I know thinking hurts the team) how about a handicap system.

For example: If you qualify under any of the categories below you have to drag 1 sea anchor for each violation.

If you have caught more than 20 tuna in one trip .....1 sea anchor.

If you have more than 200 HP .....1 sea anchor.

If your boat is white, whitish, off white .....1 sea anchor.

If your boat is fiberglass .....1 sea anchor.

If you have a “K”, “T”, “M”, ……. Any letter other than
“O”, “D”, “I”, “N”, in you boat name. .....1 sea anchor.

OK then I realized the fallacy of my plan. If Key West had all those sea anchors behind his boat, he would paint them with red, green and white stripes, put hooks down the center, and still catch all the fish.

Back to the drawing board…….

Just don't tell them about our secret "[DELETED]."

I bet we could have [DELETED] instead of [DELETED]. That was pretty pathetic.

Pretty funny stuff when you finally get out to the tuna grounds to start fishing and Key West is already heading for the barn with 20 longfins on board. You just gotta shake your head and know that things could either be really good or he just wiped out the only school around.

Wow!!!
I have gotten all caught up in this mob mentality of trash talk, and handicapping…

What we should be doing, is finding ways to help those with the successful history catch more fish.

If we find the fish, we need to call the Key West, Tracker, Minaki, Mertle bee, Tuna Time, etc and get the “A” teams on the fish!

Another thought was to share space. Lets say Tracker has more fish than iced space to properly care for them. We need to be able to transfer fish to those of us with more space than fish. (It would still go to Trackers total).

Any other ideas for maximizing the days total catch.

Bob

Leaving ice behind will make more room for fish, lighten up the boat to get better mileage per gallon, not dent the pocket book so deep, and the foodbank doesnt know the difference between tuna fish and cat food

And ODIN, any GPS numbers you hear on derby day of a hot bite may or may not be legit, when you hear a number that is something like 121.89.349 x 42.99.349 you may want to check if it actually is in the ocean or even exist

Anybody spending time chasing a non biting report, is one less contender ie) when Team Wahoo reports we are on a hot bite at xxx.xx.xxx by yyy.yy.yyy it may or may not even be Team Wahoo on the radio, reporting fish or sending others on a goose chase

This could be fun

BOE
I've heard of such stuff on other days, but I would hope this would not happen when the goal was to provide for those much less fortunate than the Salty Dogs!

I'm begining to feel like a balloon salesman at a hanging.

At the end of all of this, many groups of people will benefit. The food bank will have high quailty food to distribute, whether iced or not! It is not iced in socal for day trips and is just fine. It is warmer there also. Us fishermen will benefit from a good days fishing and ribbing those who caught less than us whether in the money or not. The sponsors for having come forth and helped in a worthy cause putting a good word in for their endevors. I look at all these days a giant TA meetings, that last all day and into the night. What more could you ask for! And if you happen to be able to afford some new Gucci gear at the end of the day, he_l what more could you ask for!

You just need a "hot bite" for dinner Bob. You had a rough day today, what with visiting the lowlands and not seeing the ocean.
